The hospital is located in the Oshikoto region, one of the four regions comprising Owamboland. The area is noted for its mopane scrub forest and seasonal river drainage systems or oshanas. The indigenous language is Oshiwambo which is divided into several dialects. Approximately 200 km southwest of the hospital is Etosha National Park. The park bills itself as one of the world’s pre-eminent game reserves and is notable for its impressive pan that seasonally is filled with rainwater. Northwest of the hospital is the famous Ruacana Falls. A large waterfall with an 85 meter drop. The waterfall is located on the Kunene River which forms part of the Northern border with Angola.
